This time last week some of the BS4F members and I were fortunate enough to be invited to attend Decoded Fashion, a two day long conference focusingon digital and technological advances in the fashion world. Although my first time attending the conference myself, it was the conference’s third time in Milan, having also being held in New York, Tokyo and London. We were welcomed at the beautiful Hotel Magna Pars where we had the chance to network with people ranging from the digital, marketing and fashion fields from brands coming from all over the world. For me, someone coming from the fashion world and having no prior knowledge of digital…

The Business Strategy Behind The H&M x Balmain Collaboration.
Balmain and H&M are two very distinguished fashion companies, in terms of their pricing, customer profile, product quality and company size. Thus, it seemed unnatural that the two collaborate on a collection. After identifying itself as a high-fashion brand, wouldn’t a collaboration with H&M ruin Balmain’s reputation? Some argued the collaboration stained the brand’s credibility whereas others rejoiced to the fact they could finally afford an item associated to the Balmain name. And both reactions are completely understandable. Previous owners of Balmain pieces should be annoyed that others are getting Balmain products for cheaper, and that the luxury value of Balmain clothing decreases.

When Art meets Fashion: “Andy Warhol Illustrations for Fashion Magazines, 1951 -1963”
There is a strong bond between Art and Fashion, often with one influencing the other. We frequently hear of designers, from top fashion houses, describing to us what influences them the most . For instance, for his debut Haute Couture Collection at Maison Dior, Raf Simons re-created amazing Sterling Ruby paintings into stunning women’s dresses.

Yeezy Season 1 is Here
Kanye West has taken the fashion industry by storm. His first collection, Yeezy Season 1, is about to release in stores around the globe and excitement surrounding the launch is high. He debuted his second collection, Yeezy Season 2, during a surprise fashion show at New York Fashion Week. With the likes of Anna Wintour in attendance, Bella Hadid modeling, and West’s entourage there to show support, the star studded show was promising. The military themed show and the clothing itself were both very different from what we generally see at fashion shows. The new collection, similar to the first, featured a minimal esthetic with layered looks, distressed fabrics,…

Raf Simons Is Parting Ways With Dior.
After three-and-a-half year as Creative Director, Raf Simons decided to leave Maison Dior and it’s so sad. Just few weeks ago he turnt the Louvre “Cour Carrée” into a breathtaking delphiniums hill for the S/S 2016 Dior fashion show, and that was his last one. “It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection,” Simons said “It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work.”

Manolo Blahnik’s Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions.
Madonna once described Manolo Blahnik shoes as “better than sex” and added that “…moreover, his shoes last longer.” From that starting point, we’re moving to the presentation of the book “Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions”, written by the superfamous and inspirational Manolo Blahnik, the Spanish fashion designer who allows women to dream since over 40 years. His book is a like an autobiography, told as little sketches through the bonds he had with the most important and meaningful people of his life (starting from Anna Piaggi, then Luchino Visconti, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and so on…) who allowed him to become the artist we know today.

The Met Gala: The Good, The Bad and The RIHANNA!
On Monday night, our favorite fashionistas gathered to attend the coveted annual Met Ball in NYC. This year’s theme was China: Through the Looking Glass and people definitely did not disappoint. Here are a few of my picks for looks to be remembered. Some are amazing and others are extremely boring. I would like to add that in the spirit of positivity, there will not be a worst dressed. For individuals whose style was a little challenged this year, I shall simply wish them better luck next year. Without further ado, the gowns!

Fashion Garden @10 Corso Como
The creator of this incredible place is Carla Sozzani, sister of the director of Vogue Italia and fashion publisher, who decided to leave the magazine world to pursue a career as an art gallery owner. She started her project in 1991 when she found a big garage at number 10 Corso Como, a then-notsofashionable district of Milan. As I just said the heart of the idea was an art gallery, but 10 Corso Como quickly became much more than that: now it’s a multifunctional space featuring an amazing shop, a cafeteria, a restaurant,…
