Raf Simons Is Parting Ways With Dior.

After three-and-a-half year as Creative Director, Raf Simons decided to leave Maison Dior and it’s so sad.

Just few weeks ago he turnt the Louvre “Cour Carrée” into a breathtaking delphiniums hill for the S/S 2016 Dior fashion show, and that was his last one.

“It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection,” Simons said “It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work.”

He continued “Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book. I want to thank M. Bernard Alnaut for the trust he has put in me, giving me the incredible opportunity to work at this beautiful house surrounded by the most amazing team one could ever dream of. I have also had the chance over the last few years to benefit from the leadership of Sidney Toledano. His thoughtful, heartfelt and inspired management will also remain as one of the most important experiences of my professional career.”

He joined Dior in 2012 when he replaced Bill Gaytten, the Creative Director at the helm of Dior.

Thanks to his humility, talent and dedication Raf Simons brought the Maison into a new vanguard era, mixing minimalism and romanticism without losing the soft refined Christian Dior’s touch, keeping him alive (if you haven’t watched the movie-documentary “Dior and I” yet, you probably should) with a delicate visionary femininity.

Raf Simons absolutely made it.

But now, who is next?

Great post! But really who will be next?? I always wonder who will be the forefront of fashion tomorrow. What will happen when (god forbid) people like Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld are no longer with us. Who will be the next face?? Anyway I look forward to reading more of your posts 🙂 Follow me at partimeparisian.wordpress.com! xx bisous, partimeparisian
