Over the weekend the BS4F team and I were busy running (literally) around the city attending presentations and shows in order to share what’s to come for FW16/17 with all of you! I have to say that I was particularly impressed with the Ermanno Scervino show, not only because logistically it was well organized, but because we actually got a seat close enough to truly enjoy the beauty of his pieces.
Before I had ever been to my first fashion show, I thought everything worked smoothly and people walked calmly to their seats in a timely manner before the show started…obviously I hadn’t taken “The Devil Wears Prada” movie seriously enough! I realized very quickly that this was not the case…if the people working the door don’t recognize you or your PR Team (…for those of us who have our own personal PR team…) you have got to wait in line and have all the documents ready to get in! As students we are usually given standing room places, which means you need to get there early and line up (in the rain) in order to get a good spot.
I guess luck was on our side this time, or maybe we just look oh so stylish, that they offered us seats in one of the rows closer to the runway. This was the golden ticket for me because now I finally got to see close up the details on these beautiful pieces hand crafted by M. Scervino. His fall 2016 is all about jewel tones, which you might say is nothing new, but I found that his brought forward some beautiful new hues that were perfectly accented on the lace detail of his pieces. One piece in particular that I loved was a floor length mustard yellow lace dress, I could see myself wearing it to an even on a cool autumn evening or even to work with a great pair of brown leather booties.
For the winter M.Scervino really took keeping warm seriously with some dramatic fur headpieces. I mean as a Canadian I can TOTALLY appreciate the pieces, but I can’t imagine ever needing to wear such a big fur piece in Milan. I loved them nonetheless and if you’re reading this M.Scervino I would be happy to test out your beautiful fur accessories in harsh Canadian winter that I’m going to have to tackle next week!
Although I can’t wait for the summer to get here to finally put away all the black and brown and break out some colour, after seeing this new collection I wouldn’t mind getting ready for the fall either! Jewel Tones = LOOOOOVE!
