• Etro’s Search For Poets

Not long ago Etro came up with an outstanding new initiative. The project is named “The circle of poets” and it aims at attracting young enthusiasts focused on creative spheres. Everything is done via the website. Anyone can submit any creative work; all the works will be looked at and evaluated within the company, the best of the best authors will get the chance to develop special projects in collaboration with the brand. Etro creates a platform where creativity flourishes, where freedom of thought nurtures fresh ideas, where young people, if they have something to say, are given the floor. The initiative lets the new talents express themselves, unify with…

  • Decoded Fashion

This time last week some of the BS4F members and I were fortunate enough to be invited to attend Decoded Fashion, a two day long conference focusingon digital and technological advances in the fashion world. Although my first time attending the conference myself, it was the conference’s third time in Milan, having also being held in New York, Tokyo and London. We were welcomed at the beautiful Hotel Magna Pars where we had the chance to network with people ranging from the digital, marketing and fashion fields from brands coming from all over the world. For me, someone coming from the fashion world and having no prior knowledge of digital…

  • Yeezy Season 1 is Here

Kanye West has taken the fashion industry by storm. His first collection, Yeezy Season 1, is about to release in stores around the globe and excitement surrounding the launch is high. He debuted his second collection, Yeezy Season 2, during a surprise fashion show at New York Fashion Week. With the likes of Anna Wintour in attendance, Bella Hadid modeling, and West’s entourage there to show support, the star studded show was promising. The military themed show and the clothing itself were both very different from what we generally see at fashion shows. The new collection, similar to the first, featured a minimal esthetic with layered looks, distressed fabrics,…

  • Raf Simons Is Parting Ways With Dior.

After three-and-a-half year as Creative Director, Raf Simons decided to leave Maison Dior and it’s so sad. Just few weeks ago he turnt the Louvre “Cour Carrée” into a breathtaking delphiniums hill for the S/S 2016 Dior fashion show, and that was his last one. “It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection,” Simons said “It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work.”

  • Manolo Blahnik’s Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions.

Madonna once described Manolo Blahnik shoes as “better than sex” and added that “…moreover, his shoes last longer.” From that starting point, we’re moving to the presentation of the book “Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions”, written by the superfamous and inspirational Manolo Blahnik, the Spanish fashion designer who allows women to dream since over 40 years. His book is a like an autobiography, told as little sketches through the bonds he had with the most important and meaningful people of his life (starting from Anna Piaggi, then Luchino Visconti, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and so on…) who allowed him to become the artist we know today.

  • The Woman I Wanted To Be: a Conversation with Diane Von Furstenberg.

If you had the chance to participate in yesterday’s conference at Bocconi University, not only would you had the unique opportunity to hear Diane Von Furstenberg speak: but you would have gained a lot more. If you ever happen to loose your motivation, revisit this day. Cherish her words, write them down on a scrap of paper and make them your own life motto. “I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I always knew the woman I wanted to be”. That was the thread of the conversation with the designer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and –as she cheerfully points out- grandmother. Diane started her inspirational talk sitting on the edge of the…
